Do we own our possessions, or do they own us? That's one of the questions pondered in Tracy's memoir Objects of Our Affection (Bantam, $25.00) Following their mother's death, Tracy and her sister were faced with the daunting task of sifting through her belongings - acres of heirlooms, from an elegant, satin-bottomed chair that might have once been occupied by George Washington to a pair of dueling pistols purportedly owned by Aaron Burr. But were these worth anything more than the stories they contained? When the sisters decide to put selected pieces up for auction, they are both sobered-and occasionally surprised-by the prices they fetch and the remorse they feel when the deals are done. Have they sold their family's soul?

Diana Joseph is a debut memoirist whose new book I'm Sorry You Feel That Way: The Astonishing but True Story of a Daughter, Sister, Slut, Wife, Mother, and Friend to Man and Dog(Berkely, $15.00) was called scrappy and wisecracking by O Magazine. It has brazen sexuality, a golden heart, and a hard-boiled sense of humor - and is ultimately a memoir about what it's like to be a modern, smart woman making her way in the world. Joseph's mordant sense of humor will endear her to fans of Dave Sedaris and Sarah Vowell. Start: 5:30 pm

Debut mystery writer Deborah Coonts is self-proclaimed proof-positive that sex sells, and an overnight success! With her new book Wanna Get Lucky?(Forge,$24.99) , Coonts starts off a series in the spirit of Janet Evanovich that revolves around Las Vegas casino intrigue and a fun, independent female character named Lucky O'Toole. Deborah lives in Las Vegas, and has plenty of insider stories that pepper Lucky's adventures: she must manage the Babylon Hotel's onslaught of outrageous festivities, solve a murder, and struggle to keep her life and libido from spinning out of control... not to mention keep her balance in six inch heels. "Paints a dead-on portrait of Las Vegas that is somehow dark, outrageous, and hilarious at the same time. Lucky O'Toole is wise, witty, and brimming with cheery cynicism. Wanna Get Lucky? goes down faster than an ice-cold Bombay martini-very dry, of course, and with a twist."

UNM School of Medicine faculty Dora Calott Wang discusses and signs her new book The Kitchen Shrink(Riverhead, $25.95), a personal story of how a psychiatrist confronts the profound changes sweeping the medical establishment as they reshape her life and career. In the past two decades, a seismic shift has occurred within the walls of our nation's hospitals and doctor's offices. The medical profession- once considered a sacred, cherished vocation-has devolved into a business motivated by a desire for profits. Even psychiatry, once the mainstay of the human interaction between doctor and patient, has fallen victim to rising costs and dictates by insurance sources. Part personal story and part rallying cry, The Kitchen Shrink is an unflinchingly honest, passionate, and humane inside look at the unsettling realities of free-market medicine in today's America.

Hampton Sides discusses & signs his new book Hellhound on His Trail: The Stalking of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the International Hunt for His Assassin (Doubleday, $28.95). Sides' research on this subject forms much of the basis for PBS's documentary Road to Memphis, which originally aired on May 3. Sides illuminates not only the forces that culminated in King's assassination; he also reveals the largely forgotten story of how his death led to the largest manhunt in American history. His research included hundreds of thousands of unpublished documents including crime scene photos, police reports, unexpurgated FBI files, and audio tapes - all from a retired Memphis cop who has compiled the most comprehensive digital archive about the assassination. Sides says, "Every non-fiction writer needs to find a guy named Vince."
