About ASGW: The Association for Speciailists in Group Work is a division of the American Counseling Association. As Counseling Professionals who are interested in and specialize in group work, we valued the creation of community; service to our members, their clients, and the profession; and leadership as a process to facilitate the growth and developemtn of individuals and groups.
At the conference, the featured keynote address will be given by Lee Mun Wah, a community therapist and producer and director of several documentary films including "The Color of Fear". He will also facilitate a two hour workshop following his keynote address on Friday, February 10.
The conference begins on Thursday, February 9th with a series of preconference activities on conference theme on self care, wellness, multicultural and social justice issues.
90 minute and 60 minute skill building sessions, panel discussions, and poster presentations will be offered throughout the conference.
We invite you to share your practice and research related to the use of group work in addressing a variety of topics including: wellness, holistic health, trauma, community building, ecological/community based interventions, disaster and crises-related work, multicultural and social justice issues, prevention, conflict mediation, peace-work, and complementary/indigenous healing practices.
