Marcia Keegan presents a slideshow of photographs and discusses the reissued Taos Pueblo and Its Sacred Blue Lake (Clearlight, $24.95), which commemorates in words and photos the return of Blue Lake to the Taos People.
Marcia Keegan's photographs of landscapes and Indian dwellings celebrate the natural beauty of the American Southwest, and document the traditional homes of American Indian tribes. The bold majestic landscapes express the photographer's love for the land and her involvement with the Native Americans to whom this land is sacred. She shares their spiritual bond with the land, and effectively conveys it through her work.
Keegan has spent a large part of her career in the Southwest photographing the Pueblo and Navajo tribes. Keegan is renowned for her books and photographs of the Southwest, and is the only photographer to have documented all 19 New Mexico Pueblos. She is the author/photographer of a number of books on the Southwest, including Pueblo People; Mother Earth, Father Sky; Enduring Culture; Southwest Indian Cookbook; New Mexico and Pueblo Girls. Her photographs are in the collections of various museums across the nation. She was given a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Eight Northern Pueblos and received the 2010 Governor's Award for Outstanding New Mexican Women. Keegan lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
