03.27.11: Dana Levin - Sky Burial

UNM faculty Dana Levin reads from and signs her third book of poetry, Sky Burial(Copper Canyon Press, $15).  In this book, Levin confronts mortality and loss in subjects ranging from Tibetan Buddhist burial practices to Aztec human sacrifice.  Shaped by dreams and "the worms and the gods," these poems are an investigation of our inescapable fate.Dana Levin's debut volume In the Surgical Theatre won the prestigious APR/Honickman First Book Prize and nearly every award available to first books and emerging poets.  She has been published in The Atlantic Monthly, Poetry, Volt, and most recently The Paris Review.  She has received three Pushcart Prizes, a fellowships from the Library of Congress and NEA, and currently teaches at UNM and the College of Santa Fe.
