Bookworks is going to brave the dark, laugh at the shivery chills, and search the sky for moonlight to count the very short minutes between 10 p.m and 12:01. Please don't make us go to the scary realms alone! We need your company for two hours of graveyard goulishness - two hours of creepy, bloody goings on until we can present to you the newest Stephenie Meyer book, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, filled with contests, music, scares, and lots of prizes!
Activities:
At ten o'clock you will be asked to search high and low for as many vampire faces as you can on the floor, on shelves, on books... small, fiendish faces staring up at you.
Collect them, count them, and the one with most wins a book that won’t be published until October: Nightshade, by Andrew Cremer.
But don't forget time is running out! Sharpen your memory fangs to be prepared to name as many Twilight characters as you can write out in red ink in an hour glass minute.
Costumes will be awarded. If you come as a vampire you will win a prize, if you come as a zombie you will win a prize, and if you come dress beautifully in black and red you will win a prize - but time is running out, plan your costume quickly and don't be late!
If you bring a tombstone epithet that you have written, drop it into the bucket, and we read it aloud, you will a prize. You will win an un-dead themed advance reader's copy book.
At 10:30 a local band, Shoot My Cupid will perform. Get ready to move your gruesome self as this group is ready to roll us forward in time. Just after, we’ll have another contest: to write the scariest Twilight themed sentence you can in a minute.
At eleven o'clock, just an hour and a minute before the story of Bree's short life goes on sale, we will most likely gasp in unison. Because a visitor to the party, dressed all in black, will begin a mesmerizing weave of story and magic as we move closer and closer to the bewitching hour. Diana Sherwood will accompany us up the ticking clock with magical stories from the darkside.
Shoot Your Cupid will take the stage again at 11:30 and this will be a perfect time for you to sample Bree's birthday cake and sip the bright, blood red punch.
Those who pre-purchase the novella, the Short Life of Bree Tanner will receive a Twilight fangs at 12:01 when they pick up their book.
