New Mexico authors Melinda Snodgrass and Ian Tregillis, who have worked with George R.R. Martin on the imaginative Wild Cardseries, both have new solo books!

Snodgrass's The Edge of Ruin (Tor, $27.99), sequel to 2008's The Edge of Reason continues the war of science vs. magic as Albuquerque cop Richard Oort struggles to take charge of the forces of reason. In 1984 she and George R.R. Martin cooked up the Wild Cardseries, a shared world anthology with a focus on the real impact of super heroes in our world. The series was nominated for a Hugo award, and three new installments have just been published!

Ian Tregillis, debut novelist, has also worked with the Wild Carduniverse, and will discuss and sign his new book Bitter Seeds (Tor, $25.99), which breathes new life into alternate military history with a fun take on World War II. In this version of 1939 Germany, the insane Dr. von Westarp has given orphans superpowers, such as fire-starting, intangibility, and invisibility.
