Checkout FAQ

If you're having trouble with checkout, hopefully this troubleshooting will help - otherwise, feel free to call Bookworks and someone can either help you complete your order online, or take payment over the phone.

1.  How do I purchase more than one ticket?

  • Click 'view cart' and change the quantity.  Then click 'update cart.'

2.  Why do I need to enter a delivery address?

  • Unfortunately, the system does require this address even if you're not planning on having the item shipped.  Once you enter this address, you will be able to select 'in store pickup' after shipping quotes have been calculated.

3.  I can't select 'in store pickup.'

  • Make sure that you have entered a delivery address and that you have calculated the shipping costs.  'In store pickup' should be the first option for shipping available.

4.  My credit card is receiving an error when I submit the order.

  • This system seems to be a little more address sensitive than many.  Make sure your billing address is entered exactly as your bank has it on file, and experiment with periods for abbreviations (P.O. vs. PO or Ave. vs. Ave).  If you continue receiving an error, we apologize for the inconvenience, but we will happily process your order over the phone (505.344.8139).
  • I have heard complaints that a credit card number is showing as invalid as well, but have not seen this error.  We apologize for the inconvenience if this is affecting you - please call us to complete your order.  Also, it would be helpful if you would either email the error text to lkuechen@gmail.com or notify the clerk at the store of the precise language so that I can report it to our authentication provider.

5.  I fixed the error after I was prompted, but my order still isn't going through.

  • Sometimes, when you fix one error, the shipping and/or pickup selection is cleared.  Make sure those are selected after you've fixed your error, and submit again.

6.  Can I ship my tickets/Can I pay for tickets in-store?

  • No.  We will always have a will-call at the event site (and hold tickets in-store), so we do not ship tickets; please select the 'in-store pickup' shipping option.  You don't have to come in to pick them up, and can get them the night of the event.  We also do not hold tickets without prepayment, which is why we require a credit card online.  If you would like to pay with another form of payment in-store, please do not use the online order method and just stop by!

If you have any other questions, please direct them to lkuechen@gmail.com or Laura at Bookworks (505.344.8139), and she will be happy to answer them, and possibly add them to this list!

A strong sense of the city of Santa Fe and its environs and the appeal of the two well-developed main characters show why this mystery was the first winner of the Tony Hillerman Prize for the best debut mystery set in the Southwest.

I must confess that I purchased this book purely because of its cover - which is absolutely beautiful.  There's something about shiny, blue paperbacks that's really appealed to me lately (also McEwan's On Chesil Beach and Ogawa's previous collection The Diving Pool), and this one juxtaposed pink dogwoods with mathematical symbols (what's not to love?).  I was definitely pleased to find out that the text was equally memorable.  Ogawa tells the tender, simple story of a housekeeper and her son, and the bond they form with a mathematician whose memory only lasts eighty minutes.  The novel explores the nature of memory and relationships while describing several basic mathematical concepts in a really beautiful way that presents numbers as elegant things full of more meaning than simply quantity.  It is a bit peculiar in its mixing of mathematics and writing, but its themes invite reflection, and like most of my favorite books lately, the details are perfect: a character receives the nickname "Root" because his head resembles a square root symbol - perfect.
