RECOMMENDED BY CONNIE

Echo Mountain is meant to be the new home for a family uprooted by the Depression. But as the author crisply portrays, people even within the same family, differ in how each reacts to change and grief. Ellie, one of three children, feels immedIately akin to the new environment. But the mountain trails have twists and turns which she must navigate in order to find her way and as she becomes more sure footed, her looming challenge becomes finding her place in her family. Readers with a heart for dogs will find ample reason to love them even more.
