POSTPONED--Southwest Writers Anthology Reading

This event has been postponed due to the COVID-10 health crisis. It has been rescheduled for June 20, 3 pm.

Three contributors to the Southwest Writers anthology read from their award winning work: Kimberly Rose ("Wish Upon a Star"), Patricia Walkow, and Suzanne Byrne ("Vindicated").

Kimberly Rose received her BA in English from the University of New Mexico in 2017. She’s had short stories and poems published in a few literary magazines, and hopes to publish her first novel in the near future. She currently works as an EMT in Albuqueruqe, New Mexico.

Patricia Walkow is an award-winning author. Her work was honored in the 2016 William Faulkner Literary Competition. A full-length biography, The War Within, the Story of Josef, won first place awards in national and international competitions, and she is a NM Press Women and National Federation of Press Women award winner.  She writes short stories and essays and has contributed to both online and in-print anthologies, newspapers, and magazines. She is a contributor and editor to the anthology, Love, Sweet to Spicy, and edited Corrales MainStreet News.

Suzanne Byrne’s story, Vindicated, in the SouthWest Writers 2019 Winners Anthology, is a part of her collection entitled, Safe at Home.  Seniors Reaching Out (SRO) is a retired senior citizens’ writers’ group, Suzanne led in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has a BFA in Painting from Bridgeport University and an MFA in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

About SouthWest Writers and their anthology:

The motto of SouthWest Writers is “Writers Helping Writers," through classes, conferences, workshops and a membership of more than 370 people―many of whom are published, well-known authors. Twice monthly meetings offer insights and opportunities for networking.

The Annual Writing Contest offers an important step in an author’s development. It focuses on short pieces of poetry, non-fiction essays and genre-driven short prose – less than 3,500 words. The contest allows both budding authors and seasoned writers to sharpen their skills. Sixteen categories were offered, and awards are given for First, Second and Third place in each.
